Inside Shaniwar Wada - Pune
What all places you must visit in Pune?
Shaniwarwada
The most visited historical Place in Pune which was the stately mansion originally built as the residence of the Peshwas. The foundation of the mansion was laid by Bajirao 1 in the year 1730 AD and construction was completed in 1732 AD. This is a fort on ground and is in the middle of Pune City. This is well preserved and is open daily during their visit hours.
Saras Baug & Peshwe Baug
These are the twin gardens at the heart of the City. The Ganesh Temple from Saras Baug is very old & famous. Peshwe Baug was the old Zoo which is a children play park now. Both gardens are worth visiting.
Khadakwasla Dam (The Dam which supplies drinking water to Pune City)
We can’t upload the Dam photo on this Blog for security reasons, but showing just the backwater of the dam. This dam is part of a series of dams built for supplying water for the needs of Pune City and surrounding area. The other dams on same route are Panshet and Varasrgao. They are the source of drinking as well as agricultural and industrial usage in this area.
Rajiv Gandhi National Park (Zoo)
It is a large Zoo and much comfortable place for Wild Animals than the Old Zoo of Peshwe Baug. A family picnic place where you will be able to see different type of snakes, reptiles, monkeys, Tigers, Bears, Elephants and many more animals.
Kamar Ali Darvesh Dargah
If you take Pune Satara Road going towards Satara, you come across a Toll Booth in a small town of Khed Shivapur. You need to take a U-turn just before the Tool Booth and on the left-hand side, you will see an entry gate to a Dargah. Hazrat Kamar Ali Darvesh Dargah at Khed Shivapur near Pune, Maharashtra is a famous place. This is not just famous because it is a Dargah but there is an interesting this to see and experience over here.
In front of the Dargah, there is a small open space. Here you will find a large round stone weighing around 90 Kg lying on the ground. If eleven people touch just the first finger below the stone and say 'Kamarali Durvesh' and lift the stone with just one finger of each person, the stone gets lifted easily. People visiting the Dargah feel is as some kind of act of god but people who studied the science behind this tell that this is because of 'collective force theory' and nothing else. I tried it myself and it worked. Only men are allowed to try this out. The Dargah is completely renovated with white marble and a goodtourist attraction. Parking is a problemover here and you should park away from this place and prefer to walk down.
