How To Measure The HVAC Energy Efficiency ?

What is HVAC Energy efficiency?

The standard COP value for your air conditioner system must be between 2 to 4. The COP of a system must be improved by reducing the output temperature to 300 C.

Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER):
To managing and restraining the growth in energy consumption is known as energy efficiency. It is the ratio of output energy in terms of BTUs to the electrical energy in terms of a watt.  In simple word, energy efficiency means using the less energy to provide the same service. The energy efficiency ratio is displayed on your HVAC system so you must evaluate it time to time so that you know about your unit is working properly at energy efficiency levels.

Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio:
The seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) is used for measuring the air conditioning and heat pump cooling efficiency. This efficiency ratio is used for how the unit will behave over a season when temperature varies.  If the SEER rating is higher then energy efficiency is greater. For the air conditioner, the minimum SEER ratio is 13. The latest HVAC SEER ratio ranges from 13 to 21.

Heating Seasonal Performance Factor:
It is the ratio which is useful measuring the efficiency of heat pumps.  If the efficiency of heating pumps is great then it will result in less energy use and increases energy saving over the life of the system, compared to a less efficient heat pump. While you buying the HVAC you should look heat pumps with a HSPF rating of between 8 and 10. 

Energy star:
The environmental protection agency creates the energy star indication to rate products that have a high level of energy efficiency. Through this rating, you can easily identify if the unit has higher energy efficiency and choose accordingly.
